"Imagine a game without violence, yet as chilling as abandoned places where people have died and never returned. Imagine a 3D world, yet the only forces are those that come from the ground. Imagine a completely new kind of game with 9,999 living 3D landscapes. Archipelagos is the experience of the metaphysical."

For me, this game is utterly terrifying. I am not sure why, but my older sister always played it when I was young, and everything about it freaked me out. Archipelagos is utterly disturbing. Though now the graphics are very primitive, it does not lack the power of terror. It has an unsettlingly simple look.
The worlds you move around are green and surrounded by ocean, implying life, but the only life here are Arboreal trees that bleed, bleed until the entire landscape is covered in blood. Sinister tornado-like Lost Souls whistle through the land, hunting you, as forever you fight against time to escape!
You cannot escape easily, the ocean traps you on a group of islands (an archipelagos) that you must navigate in search of numerous rocks which you must burst. The trees forever seep blood all around you, and if you touch the blood, you die. Once all of the rocks are crushed, you must rush back to the Obelisk and lower it into the ground.
Each new Archipelagos invites new terrors, some of which I cannot remember, such as Blood Eggs and evil eyes. Eggs which, when lightning strikes, burst and flood entire islands in impassable blood!

I recommend Archipelagos if you want a challenge, and can ignore basic 3D graphics and FX.
