"A shoot'em-up of dynamic proportions, if you haven't experienced Project-X you haven't experienced the best arcade action the Amiga has to offer!"
That statement is the sort of praise this game recieved everywhere it went, and I agree! Unquestionably the best side-scrolling shooter you can expect to get from the Amiga's 1meg of system power! It has a unique three dimensional look even though bitmaps are still used, the ships tilt, rotate and pulse with energy and life making each new enemy a treat to experience and a threat not to be ignored.
The sound is beautifully stereo and purely arcade shooter. It rarely gets clipped and when the sounds overlap, the system can usually handle the complexity. The theme music is the best track, though quite long.
The bosses are challenging but not impossible, while weapon power ups are abundant and makes it up to you what new weapon you want in amidst the action. Complicated? Hardly, a quick dash of the space bar is all you need to activate a new power up. Speaking of impossible, I haven't yet completed the game, I get stuck on the second of three levels. But don't worry, those three levels - although few - are action packed at the fullest and you'll never get bored enough to stop playing it again and again.
It may be a linear shooting spree, but the graphic achievement is a milestone for the Amiga and the game is a testimony to the system's power!
A must buy!
