Press-Release:
Sukko Pera, designer of the "OpenFlops" Gotek-style floppy disk drive emulator, has recently allowed manufacturing partner Simulant Systems Ltd in the UK to produce his product.
Simulant Systems has made the USB emulator drives available on their website for £19.99 plus postage. Fully Amiga compatible, the OpenFlops drive uses FlashFloppy firmware and has a number of extra features to the standard Gotek - including built in hardware support for emulating two floppy drives from one usb stick (a firmware update to support for this feature is to follow). Openflops can be ordered including a case, speaker, rotary dial or with other configurations.
OpenFlops uses a matching form-factor to the Gotek drive, so it is easy to upgrade or replace your existing Goteks and swap them with an OpenFlops without much effort. The drive works on all the same host platforms that FlashFloppy supports including other non-Amiga retro computers and synths.
Simulant is also donating 50p from every sale to their chosen charity, the Centre of Computing History museum in Cambridge.
More information and ordering can be found at http://www.simulant.uk/openflops
