Wayfarer the latest and most current web-browser for MorphOS is moving forward at break-neck speed, and since Amiga Future issue 148 **has been/is due to be** released there have been 3 versions released. That is even though the author Jacek "jacadcaps" Piszczek badly injured his wrist in the snowy/icy conditions over the Christmas/festive/New Year period, he is still in "hyper-drive", so what can slow this man down? Who cares, let him "rip", we're loving it.

So, he's released version 1.8, version 1.9, and a quick fix in v1.10 to resolve a potential AHI code issue that might have caused a "crash", and now, currently the latest, version 1.11 with more optimisations and fixes.

The major improvement(s), for most users, came in version 1.9 with audio/sound streaming, the first step in media support, so you can now listen to online streamed audio from many sites. Most other changes in version 1.9 were fixes.

There were also other fixes and improvements over the last 3, well 4 - if you count the v1.10 fix, releases, though the main enhancement that came in version 1.8 when various improvements were implemented in the printing UI. The printing mode offers you a view of almost two-thirds (2/3rds) of the webpage view on the left, with the options laid-out on the right third (1/3rd) of the web-browser printing UI to decide on how, and what you want to save, and how you want to save it, as an actual print-out or PDF. So, the pages can now be re-sized and the page scrolled page by page, just 1 notch on the mouse wheel scrolls a whole page, and so you can easily see what you intend to save as a PDF or printout. You can save multiple web-pages to one printed/PDF page. There is a zooming in/out option that affects how the PDF or printout is saved (shrunk/enlarged), and you can select to save just 1 or more copies, odd/even or all the pages. So, you can be more selective in what you actually save from printing mode. Printing is a "toggle" option, so the combined keypress of Cmd/RAmiga and p/P activates the printing option panel, another combined keypress and it disappears, leaving the webpage you were viewing back as the full page, now that's really neat!

Improvements in version 1.11 saw:
Optimisations in the Curl cache "warm-up" making it much faster
Download requesters no longer "pop-up" if an item on a webpage has no valid mime type/isn't the main URL
Updated EasyList filter data
Optimised Wayfarer so it doesn't attempt to load media at all if the webpage is set to block it
Re-worked localisable string formats to use @key@ instead of %d, etc., to avoid crashes with incorrect translations
Improved handling of custom/unsupported protocols

Other improvements in version 1.8 were:
Added jpeg2k support via OpenJPEG
Reports browser locale based on system locales
Added a Translation service support w/ settings
Added session quicksave hotkeys
Improved wheel scrolling and mouse cursor code
Adjusted page/wheel scrolling deltas to be in-line with WebCore's suggested values
Scrolling page content is now possible with mmb pressed
Esc key deactivates the WebKit container, instead of being swallowed
Improved the cURL thread loop
Various UI improvements in the Printing Mode - as mentioned above
Improved shutdown times
Linked against latest OpenSSL 1.1.1i and cURL 7.74.0

In all versions there were fixes to the program which, as it is still in the early days of its development, are to be expected, and it is still being enhanced at break-neck speed, isn't that a refreshing change to have a modern/current standards web-browser in hyper-active development!! It's a joy! Donations to "jacadcaps" are welcome, and worthy to support this venture for the benefit of all MorphOS users.

Don't look away too long, as version 1.12 will be waiting in the wings soon enough, which will probably add more features and fix a few issues, and who knows what else it will offer, personally we can't wait . . . but we'll have to !!
