The topic of power supplies for the Amiga is more topical than ever. Thanks to many smart Amiga users, we have received numerous new hardware for the Amiga over the years, but they all want to be supplied with sufficient power. The ravages of time also gnaw on the electronic components, also in the Amiga power supply. Several solutions exist in numerous variations and now there is another one, a very elegant solution: the A500 or A1200 single power module.

This is an open source project (Open Hardware) by Tobias Seiler, which offers a small circuit board for the Amiga 500 or Amiga 1200 which can be soldered onto the mainboard after the socket for the old power supply has been removed. Equipped with the appropriate components, the board acts as a DC/DC converter, which allows the user to supply his Amiga with power using a 12V power supply with a barrel connector. The voltage of 5V can supplied with up to 6A and a voltage of -12V can be supplied with up to 500mA, +12V is simply passed through. The finished board also offers a toggle switch, which, together with the new socket, fits into the case hole of the previously unsoldered 5-pin DIN square socket.

The variant for the Amiga 500 has been successfully tested by the author, but it should be noted that the Amiga 1200 variant has not yet been finally tested.
