Frying Pan released in the Version 1.3.1. for Classic Amiga, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS.

Whoever uses FP 1.3.0 and encountered problems with on-the-fly recording should switch to new FryingPan 1.3.1 which includes also the salvage for the discs suffering problems of the older version.
To recover your disc (using UI) - choose 'Close Tracks', then 'Close Session' in Media page, or use adequate CLI switches for Optical.

A new version of DvPlayer is now available in the download section. Changes since the previous release:

• Added support for ASF and WMV files with prebuffering, intelligent frame-skipping, index handling and a/v synchronisation
• Fixes and improvements to rendering routines and added support for some new YUV colour formats
• Added USEBAND tooltype/option allowing the performance to be fine-tuned on different systems
• Added AUTOEXIT tooltype/option
• Added SUBTITLECHARSET tooltype/option allowing to specify any character set for subtitles (by default the system setting is used)
• Added suport for html-style tags in subtitles: currently italic tag is used, other tags are ignored
• Fixed bugs in subtitle support
• Fixes and improvements in audio/video synchronisation
• Added support for volume adjustment via provided keys on Multimedia keyboards
• Many other bugfixes and improvements (GUI, menu, I/O plugin handling, etc.)

This new version requires the latest avcodec.library 51.52, which was recently released on OS4Depot.net.

Michal Schulz is working hard on porting AROS to Acube Systems SAM440 board, and he got some interesting results. Here are some words from a recent post on his blog: "I have decided to separate the kernel (and libraries loaded together with it) from user space. The kernel is loaded somewhere within first 16MB of RAM and then relocated to the virtual address at the very top of the 32-bit address space. The bootstrap loader works in the same way as the x86_64 bootstrap did. It puts all read-only sections upwards from the kernel base, and all writable sections downwards from the kernel base. Since I'm evil by definition, my core of SAM440 AROS will greedily take all the memory below it's physical location for itself. This memory (few megabytes) will be used as a local pool for kernel and will be excluded from usermode access of any kind."

Nic Andrews is working on Wanderer, in order to improve it and fix some annoying bugs. He is now "slowly hacking away at reworking the rendering code for wanderer iconlist class. The intermediate goal is to allow icon windows to buffer the icon/background rendering so, for instance, using the tiled rendering mode for iconlist backgrounds wont cause noticable icon flickering as it currently does".
