Do-it-yourself project in development: Picasso graphics card for BigBox Amigas with 4 MB RAM

Published 30.09.2022 - 18:32 by osz

The GitHub user nobodyisinocent has created something of his own from two existing projects, the Amiga BigBox Picasso Flicker Fixed Graphic Board V0.9 with 4 MB RAM for use in the Amiga 2000, 3000 and 4000. The GBA1000 4MB Picasso Board from Georg Braun and the MultiFix AGA by Matthias Heinrichs aka Matze on the A1k.org board served as a template. The graphics card consists of a main circuit board with the essential components and a small connection circuit board that finds its place in the Amiga's video slot. Both components are connected to each other using a ribbon cable. For use in an Amiga 2000, a turbo card with 64 MB RAM is recommended.

Currently there are no files on the project page that could be used to manufacture this graphics card other than the render of the circuit board from KiCAD and the four circuit board layers. The project is still in development, nobodyisinocent is currently considering producing some PCBs for test purposes. If the project then runs reliably in the test, he will make the Gerber files available. However, he also notes that this is a private project that was not developed for commercial purposes.

All further information and hopefully also the Gerber files needed for the production of the PCB in the future can be found on GitHub: https://github.com/nobodyisinocent/Amig ... phic-board

Do-it-yourself projects: Powering the Amiga 500 and Amiga 2000 via an ATX power supply

Published 30.09.2022 - 18:08 by osz

The GitHub user wiretap-retro has published two projects in his repository that deal with the power supply for the Amiga. Both target the use of ATX power supplies. The A500-Tower-Power adapter is designed to accommodate the Amiga 500 board in a tower case and also offers connection options for up to three fans. As the name suggests, the A2000-ATX-PSU adapter is a very similar project for the Amiga 2000. There are up to two connection options for fans. Both adapters can be made by yourself with the appropriate soldering skills.
